The story of Terry
My name is Terry and I have two rare diseases. One is Myelofibrosis which is a rare bone marrow cancer. It causes scaring of the marrow and there are only 60,000 known cases. Mostly found in males over 60, like myself. Even though it is not curable it is treatable. The Myelofibrosis has triggered a second rare disease called Polycythemia Vera which is a blood disorder similar to Luekemia. There are only 100,000 known cases of the Polycythemia Vera which causes an escalated white cell count and the thickening of the blood. The high white cell count causes a weakening of the immune system. My white cell count runs 35,000 – 45,000. Normal is 6,00- – 11,000. I’m thankful for the Specialty medicine I take as it has kept my diseases in check.
