The story of Mary Jo
In 2015, our granddaughter, Thea Marie was born. She was perfect, beautiful, and such a happy baby. We had no idea beneath the beautiful exterior, she had a life threatening defective immune system. Her diagnosis was not made until her second hospitalization for a rare pneumonia. We were devastated. After two stem cell transplants, and suffering through every serious side effect including veno occlusive disease, graft failure (the first transplant) and idiopathic lung disease she made it! We are thankful for the world class doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital for providing expert care to our granddaughter and saving her life.
