The story of Nicholas
I found a tick above my right ankle on 7/29/2003, developed small red spot that gradually enlarged from the size of a dime to that of a quarter. Then, the following week, the center faded, leaving a pink circular target rash at about the place where I’d taken off the tick. I became quite ill (flu-like) over the following week, and found a large round red rash on my right abdomen on 8/17/03, and developed violent involuntary upper body jerking on 8/18/03. I did not know about Lyme or what was happening, until I saw an infectious disease doc. I was not treated until late August 03. I’ve had severe pain for past decade. I’m gradually losing muscle, esp thighs and gluteus muscles. So it’s becoming difficult to walk at times. Beginning to experience cognitive difficulties: confusion, not remembering how to spell a word (I’m a writer, and should know how to spell “though,” but I’ve forgotten a few times. The shape of my skull seems to be changing. Are these symptoms explainable? I don’t know what to expect, as I become weaker — in my legs and hands… all muscles — and experience increased pain.
