The story of Elizabeth
I was always healthy, until 2020, when I got a rash on my foot. I was 21. That rash spread from my foot up both legs, onto my arms and stomach. My doctor did not know what it was, but I could not get into a rheumatologist for 6 months. A skin biopsy was inconclusive, but a kidney biopsy confirmed it was HSP. I could not tolerate prednisone, which is the go to medication to manage HSP, but luckily colchicine has cleared up the rash. I still get spots sometimes, but colchicine clears it up within a day. Thanks to them I was able to get help for the HSP, which was causing bleeding all throughout my body, even in my organs. The doctors unfortunately cannot help with the lasting effects of having vasculitis, inflammation, fatigue, achy bones and joints, and constant headaches.
