The story of Jakesha
Born with a rare condition called lymphatic malformation, I was flown out from my little island to PR to be diagnosed. Bounced around a few doctors, I then settled in Boston. I’ve had well over 40 surgeries, and let’s say, it’s been a roller coaster. My lower body was shaped from my tumors so I look a bit different, decorated with permanent scars which I call my tattoos. Despite my differences and scars, I developed high self-confidence and my self-acceptance shines through. I worked wherever and wore whatever I wanted, with no concern. I learned…. Don’t allow situations you have no control over stress you out or control your emotions. 🙂
