The story of Bonnie
In the early 70’s I was working as a research lab technician at Albany Medical College which is part of Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. I came down with a high fever which lingered long enough to be hospitalized. I began to have an outbreak of small tumors on my face and arms. For three months nobody could diagnose the problem. I was seen by many resident doctors and current medical students and their MD professors. Everyone wanted to be the first to discover what I had. Finally, a resident Doctor/Teacher came up with the diagnosis…Histiocytosis X. I was treated with the anti cancer drug Vinblastin. Immediately, the tumors shrunk and I was discharged. No problems since then !
