The story of Jessica
At about 3 years of age I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy but around 10 years of age I started experiencing more symptoms like seizures and worsen gait. When I entered high school I was diagnosed with posterior uveitis after having hemmorages in both eyes. I knew then that my condition couldn’t be cp and I needed answers from 2016 to 2019 I searched from doctor to doctor in hopes of a new diagnosis. In June 2019 I went to wake forest Baptist hospital and met with a new doctor who just came out of schooling. He said you know we could try genetic testing just to rule it out since it is noticed alot to be misdiagnosed for cp. At this point I was so game. So I got the test and spit it full of my dna. In August 2019 I got my results and sure enough I was diagnosed with hsp spg3a affecting my atl1. There has been many ups and downs especially in my gait and in muscle spasms but it feels good just to have answers finally.Â
