The story of Lasaunia
My name Lasaunia Thompson I battled an unnamed disease for seven years, which emerged suddenly and brought excruciating pain. The painful wounds it caused would linger for over a year, making even my 100% cotton sheets unbearable against my skin. Despite countless medical procedures and consultations, doctors repeatedly labeled me a mystery. I’d respond, “No, my name is Lasaunia. What I have is the mystery.”
One day, I prayed and told God that if you chose me to be the vessel to carry this disease, then you have to give me some peace to deal with it.
I began affirming myself and changed my perspective on my wounds and condition. Journaling became my way of waiting for divine guidance.
In January 2021, I received a diagnosis of a rare disease called Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG), known for causing large, painful sores, typically on the legs.
With prescribed medications from my rheumatologist, I started to experience a better quality of life. My message to anyone facing adversity is to trust in God, write down your thoughts, and be kind to yourself. I firmly believe that victory is attainable for everyone. I share my story as a testament to show that victory is possible on the other side of hardship.
