The story of Caroline
My name is Caroline and I was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) in 2018. IIH is high pressure in the brain. It causes symptoms similar to someone who has a brain tumor. Most of the time my head feels like it wants to explode🤯. Some of the symptoms I suffer from are headaches, nausea, dizziness, light/sound sensitivity, fatigue, & memory fog.
After years of trying different medications to drain the excess fluid from my brain & getting no results I had brain surgery to get a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. The surgery was a success & has helped me not go blind in the future but the head pain still remains…… & is a daily battle.
IIH has changed my life, in many ways but looking at the brighter side I have found a new sense of purpose & seek to help others going through chronic pain or a chronic illness because I know how hard it can be & how lonely it can feel.
Having this rare condition has been hard, but I have HOPE for a cure! I love my life no matter how hard it has been living with daily pain for so many years. I hope to connect with others who have this illness & spread awareness on IIH!
To my IIH warriors: “Stay Strong, We got this!”💚💙
