The story of Giovanni
Gio was born prematurely at 4lbs 15oz, he ended up needing an emergency blood transfusion and surgery at just 1 month of age to place a Gastronomy tube and Nissen Fundoplication. Just 2 months later he needed another blood transfusion. There were over a dozen hospitalizations, more surgeries and still are endless specialist appointments. He attends physical therapies and occupational therapies, while we are on a waitlists for ABA therapy and hope to go from speech therapy to feeding therapy. Giovanni is 100% G-tube dependant as well as autistic, non-verbal, has microcephaly, seizures, heart complications, hypertonic, involuntary spastic movements, and a long list of other complications. With all of that, he still smiles, tries his best at everything and is so loveable. Gio is now 5 years old and just got SMO’s to help him learn to walk better. Some days are better than others, but he never seizes to amaze me. I am so proud of him and admire his strength.
He has an older brother, MaxCarter, who he loves and looks up to. I absolutely love being Giovanni’s mom, he is my warrior.
