Fighting Familial adenomatous polyposis

The story of Jordan

I just completed my first year of college and was home on summer break. I alerted my Mom that I had rectal bleeding and it had been ongoing for awhile. Went for a colonoscopy within a week and the news was devestating and scary. I had hundreds of precancerous polyps in the colon. Genetic testing showed I have FAP. I had a total proctolectomy, a horrible recovery from that surgery. I had reconsructive surgery 3 months later. I will always be at risk for other polyps and cancers of the digestive tract and thyroid etc. I have bathroom issues always, I cannot eat many foods espcially healthy friuts and veggies, I am always at risk for dehydration, to afraid to stray far from home, go to partys, date etc. FAP can be passed on to my children if that ever happens. My parents do not have the gene (rare as well) so I am the first mutation but informed.
