The story of Stacey
3 in a Million…that’s the odds of having this thing….this thing I had in my head. 10 years ago I had no idea what lie ahead of me. I had headaches…but nothing noteworthy. I lost some vision in my left eye, but figured it would pass. On April 6th, 2006 I was diagnosed with this cyst….the one that only 3 people in a million get! Yes, you read that right! Surgery was 12 days later! I was in the hospital for about 4 days, and off work for 2 months. In the past 10 years I’ve started and finished my PhD, despite memory and attention issues, post brain surgery. I’m married and have 2 kids, despite forgotten days, memories, and things that were probably important. But the bottom line is that I survived! I’ve survived, I’ve thrived…and have been lucky enough to meet several other 3 in a million survivors. While it’s not a place I would have chosen to land…I have learned so much and have met some amazing people.
