I was operated on for a cholesteatoma in 2020, A cholesteatoma is a rare condition in which an abnormal collection of skin cells deep inside your ear. Only nine out of every 100,000 adults in the United States are diagnosed with these skin growths each year. It was removed along with the “anvil” and “hammer”, bones of the middle ear that help hearing, for which I lost a little hearing in my right ear.
