The story of Maureen
My journey began at 18 with a series of collapsed lung episodes which eventually were recognzed as coinciding with my menstrual cycle. It took several ER visits before someone even caught that my lung was collapsed. I was labeled as overly anxious. Once somebody caught the collapsed lung things began to change. I was diagnosed with MVP. Several years later I was diagnosed with Dysautonomia. Then the explanation of a connective tissue disorder and how that caused the connection between the monthly cycle and collapsed lung. And most recently the diagnosis of POTS and vascular Ehlers- Danlos. It’s been a long journey. I have met several doctors who think they know everything because they read a textbook. But I have also met some very kind and caring doctors who journeyed with me and got me through some very rough times. I would have never gotten through this war without my husband of 37 years. For those blessings I am eternally grateful.
