About Office for Rare Conditions
Based at the Royal Hospital for Children & the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the Office for Rare Conditions aims to improve the quality of life for children and adults living with a rare condition.
Our objectives are:
– to increase awareness of rare conditions amongst health care staff looking after patients who attend the Royal Hospital for Children and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
– to enhance the support available to children and their families/carers.
– to promote standards of clinical care for affected children and adults.
– to increase the participation of people with rare conditions in multi-centre research.
Working with health care professionals in Glasgow, we assist clinical services to provide information events for patients and families, help to develop a strong network of patient support organisations for people living with rare conditions and provide information on rare condition research and clinical trials.
