RareBoost Project
Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG) is Turkey’s first Thematic Research Center. The aim of IBG is to develop innovative technologies and products for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, based on life sciences research. IBG has a total of 31 research programs in biomedicine and genomics which includes basic and translational research, technology development and industrial R&D programs.
RareBoost is a European Commission Horizon Europe-funded ERA Chair project with a mission to establish a center of excellence for basic and translational research on rare and undiagnosed diseases at IBG. the RareBoost project purpose to create an extensive collaborative network on rare diseases, involving various stakeholders such as basic and clinical researchers, industry partners, patient organizations, media representatives, and policymakers.
Our center has recently established the “Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases Platform (RUDIP)” under the RareBoost project, which is supported by the H2020 ERA CHAIR program and led by Prof. Dr. UÄŸur Özbek who is Director for the RareBoost ERA Chair project. Through the RareBoost initiative and RUDIP, we aim to enhance research on rare diseases both at IBG and throughout Turkey.
We are organizing the ‘Unsolved Case Hackathon’ on Rare Disease Day, February 28, 2025. We will announce this competition, which we are still planning, in the coming days.
