About In Our Arms Blog
Juli Henderson is a San Antonio mother of 5 children. Her youngest son, Robert, lost his battle with a rare mitochondrial disease at the age of 18. Robert’s disease was progressive, and attempts to control his hundreds of seizures would sometimes mean spending days in the hospital. After his passing, she felt she needed to do more to connect and help parents of children fighting diseases. Juli has created a blog, In Our Arms, including an active online community to share her experiences and what she’s learned, but also to connect and share the stories of other parents that have been through what we call “Life Unexpected.”
With Robert, Juli found it was often hard to ask for help, or find people that could understand what she was experiencing. This month she celebrated her one year anniversary of the blog, which is quickly expanding its reach across the country. She’s been honored to connect with thousands through the blog, social media and our private Facebook group daily. She also has been featured as an expert on podcasts like Parenting with Impact and in news stories on Community Impact and the San Antonio Report.
