About IIH UK

Rare disease day provides a perfect opportunity for sufferers of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension to meet others, to share experiences and gather support from others who know what it’s like to live with a rare disease.

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension is a neurological condition of unknown cause defined by increased intracranial pressure around the brain without the presence of tumour or disease. It affects just 1:200,000 children and 1-4:100,000 adults. IIH robs children of their childhoods, it robs parents of the chance to provide for their families and it robs sufferers and their carers of the chance to live a normal life. IIH can be a cruel, painful disease, it knows no boundaries, it affects all races, adults and children alike.
