Description
WALK FOR RARE is a solidarity walk to raise awareness about rare diseases in Portugal organized by ONG.PD Addapters Org.
It is on the last day of February, either the 28th or 29th, that World Rare Disease Day is observed each year. Currently, rare diseases affect about 5% of the world’s population, with more than 300 million people living with one or more of the 600 identified rare diseases worldwide.
The main goal of this day is to raise awareness in society about these diseases, their impact on patients’ lives, the challenges they face daily, and to encourage researchers and policymakers to understand the needs of those living with rare diseases.
To celebrate this day, ONG.PD Addapters Org created WALK FOR RARE, and in 2025, we are organizing its 6th edition. The first editions brought together hundreds of people in Cascais and were also held virtually during the pandemic.
