Description

RARE RUN BOLOGNA is a walk is open to all citizens, families, children, and sports enthusiasts to raise awareness about rare diseases on the occasion of Rare Disease Day.
In particular, the RARE RUN BOLOGNA aims to promote and support the Pediatric Rare Disease Center at the Pediatrics Department of Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital, which treats children with rare diseases from all over Italy. Since 2011, the Fiori di Campo association has been supporting this center by addressing various needs. The walk takes place under the Portico of San Luca, a fully covered route with arches stretching for several kilometers. Since 2021, it has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the symbols of the city. The Rare Run Bologna is now in its ninth edition. It was previously known as the “Red Balloon Walk,” but in recent years, we have chosen to forgo balloons to promote an environmentally friendly mindset.

The entire event is organized in a plastic-free manner, with the lowest possible environmental impact.

“Because rare should not mean forgotten” is our slogan in support of all rare disease patients, especially children, alongside a message of respect for the environment.
