Description

On February 28, 2025, in honor of International Rare Disease Day, we are hosting a Panel Discussion: “WE DO MORE THAN SEEMS POSSIBLE” to bring together key stakeholders and experts in the field of rare diseases. This event will address critical issues faced by rare disease patients in Ukraine, highlight ongoing efforts to improve access to treatment and care, and strengthen international and national collaboration.

February 2025 marks three years since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and the challenges faced by rare disease patients have only intensified. Today, 75% of patients with rare diseases remain in Ukraine, while 25% are abroad. Despite these hardships, our mission remains steadfast: to expand access to life-saving medications, develop a robust system of rare disease care, and enhance cooperation with international partners.

This event will feature four focused panel discussions with Ukrainian and international leaders, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and patient organization representatives. Topics will include access to rare disease medications, European integration of Ukraine, the implementation of Orphanet as a national classifier for rare diseases, and the development of a network of rare disease centers in Ukraine.
The event serves as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative planning, bringing us closer to a brighter future for rare disease healthcare in Ukraine.
Together, we can make the impossible possible.
