Description
16 years ago we were starting a journey with an unforeseen destination, entering with small steps into a world full of unknown, marked by great diversity, with many stops, the names of which we may or may not have known. It was the world of rare diseases, full of happy or sad stories, dreams and hopes, challenges at every step to find out the diagnosis. Time has passed, and the rare diseases community knows new dimensions, over 400 million people with rare diseases globally and over 1 million persons with rare diseases in Romania are estimated to exist at the present time. Education has been the element that has constantly supported this journey, diversity can only be understood by increasing awareness of this world. But it is still needed and waiting to be discovered!
It’s February. It is the month of rare diseases. It is the month and especially the rare day (February 29) when WE CARE: we care about people, we care about their lives and their families. We are trying to stop in new stations of rare diseases.
To mark this period, on February 27, 2024 we will host an annual symposium with the theme Current challenges in the diagnosis of rare diseases: the puzzle of the multidisciplinary approach on the occasion of Rare Disease Day, the location of the event being the Amphitheater “prof. dr. Răzvan PriÈ™cu” of the pediatric department INSMC “Alessandrescu-Rusescu” from Lacul Tei 120 Blv and we will bring together those who work in the field of rare diseases to collaborate, share experiences, discuss the future of rare diseases, learn to pass over obstacles and to inspire young doctors to choose a path in rare diseases. The meeting before us at the 16th edition has an enviable agenda, in addition to 36 clinical presentations of rare cases by guests from numerous medical centers with concerns in the diagnosis and management of rare diseases will also offer 3 competitions with prizes for younger colleagues at the beginning of the journey, but also for other participants who want to join the interactive competitions on the theme of rare diseases that will complete this year’s experience when we return again in onsite format, involving participants in solving the proposed puzzles, with the ultimate goal of bringing all players together as a synchronized team in the multidisciplinary diagnosis of rare diseases through education and awareness.
