Description
Cincinnati Children’s is going to be celebrating Rare Disease Day across multiple campuses during the last week of February! Carts will be available during the week with a dedicated volunteer to interact with patients waiting for their appointments. The carts will have many things including RDD-themed trivia with prizes, crafts, a stem project, a mobile photobooth, and parent appreciation gifts with hand-written notes of gratitude and encouragement. We will have volunteers walking around the facilities in zebra costumes for photo opportunities with patients. Custom Rare Disease Day shirts are being sold to fundraise for Rare Disease Day programming next year. Patient testimonials are also being collected. At the main hospital campus, our weekly Grand Rounds seminar is Rare Disease focused (“Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome: From Bedside to Bench” by Jennifer Kalish MD, PhD) and on the 28th of February, the outside of the hospital will be lit up for Light Up for Rare! Our weekly trivia theme at the hospital will also be Rare Disease focused.
