Description
EVENT OVERVIEW
Charity Event to raise awareness of the plight of ‘Wheelies’ in the community and to provide funding support to the Brash AT Charitable Organisation. Luke Ogden (bit of a local Willy legend) is The Patron of the Event known as the AT Wheelathon.
Key Objectives of the Event:
1. Raise awareness of the challenges faced by Wheelies in the community
2. Raise significant funds for the Brash AT charity in support of finding a cure for this disease.
The Event will commence with a ‘Wheel/Walk’ around a designated circuit in Williamstown. Able bodied participants will be able to register and secure the use of a Wheelchair to wheel around the designated circuit and experience the challenges first hand faced by Wheelies every day.
The Event will be limited to 30 to 40 Wheelchairs plus participants who will walk the circuit. Walkers will participate in the form of registering for the walk and completing the circuit. All participants will seek to raise funds through sponsorship for completing the course either by wheeling or walking.
The Wheelathon sets off on a 5klm route around Williamstown, starting and finishing at the Royal Yacht Club Victoria. (RYCV)
Upon completion a post Wheelathon fundraiser will be held at the RYCV. This would include a sausage sizzle BBQ on the lawn area at the Club, with food, drinks, merchandise being sold to raise money.
