Rare Disease Day was first celebrated in Morocco in 2011. Since then, participants have organised marathons, fairs and open days to raise awareness for rare diseases. Rare Disease Day has also been celebrated with scientific conferences which focused particularly on clinical trials and introduced patients and their families to therapeutic issues and the ethical issues involved in clinical trials.
In 2020, Morocco held an information and awareness day which saw participation from professors and doctors in medicine and biochemistry. The day also brought groups of people together to discuss improved treatments and management of rare diseases as well as supporting research.
