Israel

Israel first joined in with Rare Disease Day celebrations in 2010 with a conference that focused on different aspects of care for people living with a rare disease, as well as with information on several specific rare diseases themselves. Each year since 2010, a day of lectures has been held to bring together health care professionals and patients to discuss and share the realities of living with a rare disease.

In 2020, the sixth annual International Rare Disease Day conference was held on the theme, “A rare disease is diagnosed – what’s next?” The conference touched upon various aspects related to the family’s needs once their child has been diagnosed with a rare disease.

In 2021, the seventh annual International Rare Disease Day online conference took place at the  Sheba Medical Center, with the theme “Rare Diseases: Beyond Covid-19”. The conference touched upon various aspects related to rare families and their needs at these challenging days.

In 2022, the eighth annual International Rare Disease Day online conference will take place at the  Sheba Medical Center, with the theme:

“Rare Diseases: Not so Rare”
