Organisations in Denmark have participated in Rare Disease Day since 2008, with large-scale celebrations in 2008, 2012 and 2016. In 2016, the Danish Alliance Rare Diseases Denmark arranged a Rare Race and a Rare March in the biggest cities in Denmark and a rare exhibition outside the Danish Parliament. The Rare Prize was awarded to two individuals for their outstanding contributions to the rare disease community in Denmark.
Since 2017 Denmark has celebrated Rare Disease Day by hosting an event in Aarhus. In 2020, people living with rare diseases gathered with family and friends to join the celebrations and take part in the Rare march, exhibition and various innovative workshops.Â
