Bosnia and Herzegovina have participated in Rare Disease Day for ten years now, having started in 2008. Events have ranged from television debates and public marches to awareness programmes in schools. There has also been a collection of toys and school supplies for children living with a rare disease, emphasising the importance of human contact.
Rare Disease Day 2020 saw schools getting behind the campaign as students painted their hands to promote that rare are many and rare are strong. The Culture Centre in Ugljevik opened its doors to support the rare disease community.
