Bolivia participated in Rare Disease Day for the first time in 2015. In previous years, medical organisations, along with the Ministry of Health, organised events for researchers and stakeholders to come together and share advances in rare disease research.
In 2018 the first Bolivian Scientific Contest on Rare Diseases was launched and this will be incorporated in the fourth Bolivian Conference on Rare Diseases in August 2018. Rare Disease Day 2019 brought together healthcare professionals and people with rare diseases to educate and highlight the ways in which their lives are effected.
