Description
At the European Paediatric Physiotherapy Congress EUPPT 2024 we organise a Focus Session on how evidence can be translated into the management of paediatric physical therapy for children with rare diseases.
In paediatric physiotherapy, we are required to treat children with different diagnoses. Some of us are specialised in certain diagnoses, e.g. neurological, orthopaedic or pulmonary. However, many children with rare diseases can also benefit from our services. To treat and support these children and families, we need to know what guidelines and evidence we can rely on, and we may need to be even more open to finding new ways when there are no guidelines. In this focus session, we will familiarise you with the topic of rare diseases, the challenges families face and how we can work together to find a supportive way to treat and support your child. Two families will be at this session and we will talk to you about how we have translated the available evidence into clinical practice.
Two families will share their experiences and thoughts with us and we will talk with you about opportunities, obstacles and possibilities. The focus will be on the child and the family. Together we will focus on how we, as experts in paediatric physiotherapy, can best support them. We look forward to discussing, sharing and benefiting from each other’s experiences.
