About Fundación Hondureña para la Salud Hepática (FUNHEPA)
The Honduran Foundation for Liver Health (FUNHEPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the right to health for patients with liver diseases in situations of socio-economic vulnerability in Honduras. We champion quality care, access to affordable therapies, and promote medical development in hepatology and liver transplantation.
We are committed to educating and raising awareness about liver diseases, particularly rare diseases that affect the liver.
In the framework of Rare Disease Day, we will conduct an information and awareness campaign focused on less common liver diseases. Diagnosing these conditions is complex, and the therapies are often financially burdensome. In some cases, a solid organ transplant is required to ensure the patient’s survival.
As part of the campaign, we will bring to light the stories of courage and resilience of individuals facing unique challenges due to these health conditions. Additionally, we will address the primary challenges related to accessing accurate and timely diagnosis, as well as innovative and affordable treatments. To achieve this, we will collaborate with international experts in legal, healthcare, and social fields to explore opportunities for improvement from various perspectives.
