The story of Natalie
I was first diagnosed with Genetic Condition, Gitelman Syndrome at 21 years old, but had symptoms my whole life. It presents itself with dangerously low potassium and magnesium levels and potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias, muscle pain, cramps and weakness. I take 50 pills a day to keep me alive and thousands of blood tests and IVs to keep me stable. This life threatening disease is a struggle, but with correct care , monitoring and treatment from healthcare professionals. You can lead the life ( although carefully) you want.
Chronic illness is difficult to explain as well as the chronic pain that comes with this condition. But many thanks to all the amazing medical staff that keep me going. Positivity is key to a happy life. I’m very hopeful with research, new treatments will be available to improve quality of life.
