The story of Nicole
Hello , my name is Nicole. I am a 46 year old women who was diagnosed with AVN at the age of 18. After having a severe asthma attack on oct. 12 1994 I was taken to the ER where I was intubated and given the drug PREDNISONE ( steroid)
I was in an induced coma for 3 weeks all the while being given high doses of prednisone.
When I was released two months later I thought everything would be OK.
Then after a year I was diagnosed with AVN after my left elbow locked up in an L shape. I then found out that it the AVN had effected all of my major joints.
Now I am 46 years old. With both hips replaced a couple times.
Both knees replaced. And my left arm is. Well let’s just say it looks like it went through a meat grinder.
They replaced my elbow so many times that it caused an infection and I had have a cadaver bone put in to replace my humar bone.
However it rejected. TWICE.
Now I am sitting here with no elbow and no humar bone. Here’s a picture of my arm.
