I survived a disease that should have killed me

The story of Christine

I was diagnosed with the rare autoimmune disease (Wegener’s granulomatosis with polyangitis) known as GPA in 2009 at the age of 24. It almost took my life several times.

It is a form of ANCA associated vasculitis.

It affected my kidneys, lungs and sinuses the first time I was sick.

In 2018 I relapsed and it affected my legs and lungs this time.

It’s a monster of a disease and it is hard to live with but if I’ve learned anything along this journey is how strong I am and that I am a fighter.

I am proud to show my stripes!
