The story of Gabriela
My name is Gabriela-
I am from Romania, and I am a patient with multiple autoimmune diseases, including Sjogren’s Syndrome, a diagnosis I found out about 3 years ago, after doing a lot of tests and analysis, trying to understand what is happening to me, what I have this state of fatigue, why my eyes are not as they were before, why from one day to another I can not swallow food .. I had so many questions to which I had no answers, and what was worse. .that even the doctors could not understand what was happening.
After years and years, and after tests and analyzes, I managed to get the recommendation of the Association of Patients with Autoimmune Diseases in Romania, to go to a doctor at a hospital in Bucharest – and after more detailed tests – to be diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome ..but..in Romania there is no treatment for this condition- so … for us who have this condition it is very difficult.
When I was diagnosed with Sjögren, my first thought was was this disease being transmitted? Will my children have this disease too? Will they find a treatment to cure this condition? Will I be able to be what I once was?
I would find out that I am not the only one in this situation, and that there are many people like me – so I decided to start fighting with other people like me, and with the association – with the hope that one day we can beneficial and new treatment for sjogren syndrome
