The story of Lynn

Hi, I was Diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia, jak2+  on September 11th 2012 after having a few blood tests.  When I was told it was a rare type of blood cancer, like 1 in 150,000, I couldn’t get my head around it.  I still cant really.  I have another illness which I kind of put first rather than ET.    For anyone who doesn’t know about ET it is a over production of platelets, where normal range goes up to 400 mine have plateaued at 630.   It is in a group of three, PV polythy-something vera (sorry) and Mylofibrosis.  It can lead to Acute Myloid Leukaemia.   Some people say for proper diagnosis you need a BMB bone marrow biopsy but I’ve never had one, I will probably bring that up a next appointment also the fact that people have blood tests more regularly than me as I only have them yearly.

After nearly 8 years of this disease there is still alot I dont know.
