Complex regional pain syndrome and spinal cords stimulation

The story of Noemí

My name is Noemí, I am 27 years old and I live in Spain.

I suffered from this disease since 2015, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is a disease that affects the sympathetic nerve and produces a lot of pain among other things. In my case the cause is unknown.

At first the disease affected my right foot and now also affects other extremities. I used a wheelchair to move, because the pain did not allow me to walk, until the doctors performed the technique of spinal cords stimulation. Thanks to the nevro implant I can walk with a lower percentage of pain.

Currently there is no cure for this disease although you can improve our quality of life. Medicines as strong as morphine, rehabilitation and physiotherapy, including sympathetic nerve blocks, are used for improve our quality of life as my spinal cord neuromodulation.

However I have learned that I am more courageous than I thought. In addition, I have learned that I am strong and that minor problems do not matter. Of course I have also learned from solidarity.

I want to say goodbye as I always do when I write about my experience with this disease: ¡¡Hasta el Sudeck!! 😉
