The story of Julie

July 3rd 1999 was the happiest day of my life, Not only was this my first child, but the first girl out of 6 boys. My daughter alexandria was born. It only took 2 weeks for my life to turn upside down. I got a call from her doctor tell me she had PKU.. I screamed and threw my phone at my husband crying, he then talk with the doctor who said he made a mistake and gave me the wrong name. But she in facted had MCAD. We believe the only thing that keep her alive for the two weeks was i ate so many cinnamon rolls that had lot’s of suger, babies were dying at night time because there sugar was dropping and they would go into a coma. so for a whole year i had to wake her up around the clock every hour to feed her to make sure this didn’t happen, thank god i had god on my side.  Now when i say no one new what this was i mean no one.. it was so rare that we ended up going to see and amish doctor, Only to find out it is common with the amish. As far as i knew there was no amish people in my family. we got all the information that we need on how to take care of her and we went on with our life with doctor visits all the time. It took 7 years to find out that my dad was adodted and that he had a grammother who was full amish. It is now 18 years later and my daughter is still going strong because we did so well taking care of her she only ended up in the hospital 1time so far in her life, God gave her to me cause he knew i could do it.
