Rare Disease Day celebrations in Malta date back to 2011 but it was in 2014 that The Marigold Foundation started the two year long campaign to set up The National Alliance for Rare Diseases Support in Malta. Patient organisations in the country have since hosted numerous events to mark the occasion, including conferences and seminars. In 2017 a fundraising dinner was held in aid of those living with a rare disease.
In Malta for Rare Disease Day 2020 a number of events were held to celebrate the day and raise awareness. These include a car wash, meeting and the Rare Pearl Soiree.Â
