From Cushing’s to Addison’s journey

The story of Holli

Hi! I was diagnosed with a Cushing’s tumor in 2017 after two terrible years of mysterious and painful symptoms. I finally found my way to the right specialist took one look at all of my hospital records and scans and declared: “I am 99.9 % sure you have a Cushing’s tumor”. He was right. A month later I had a bilateral adrenalectomy and was put on a high dose of steroids to replace the loss of cortisol-creating adrenal. I now found myself with not enough cortisol which made me feel awful but I was so grateful to know that the tumor was home. Seven years later I am still on steroids due to not making enough cortisol on my own. This gives me the diagnosis of Addisons Disease. It is a daily juggle to stay healthy and not go into an adrenal crisis but with the help of my doctors I am thankful to still be here.
