The story of Cathy
Adriana started feeling sick when we were spending Christmas in Puerto Rico with family. I flew back to Cleveland with her and went straight to the emergency room. She was transported to children’s ICU where she was treated for myocarditis. The treatment was not working and Adriana kept getting worse. After Five weeks Adriana was still getting worse. Finally immunology was called in and she was diagnosed with HLH. A disease that is triggered by a virus or infection that caused Adriana’s immune system to go into over drive and attack her organs. She was started on a medicine called Gamafant which was helping her inflammation but it was too late her esophagus and intestines had died and Adriana took her last breath
